The deal, in plain words.
Last updated: September 2026. These terms govern your use of Year One ("the program", "we", "us"). By creating an account or buying access you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
1. What we are, and are not
Year One is an independent, self-directed online learning program in business, marketing and entrepreneurship. It is not a university, college or school, it is not accredited by any body, and it does not award a degree, diploma or any recognised qualification. Grades, GPA and transcripts inside the program are our own internal measures of your work. Nothing in the program is legal, tax, financial or investment advice; consult a qualified professional in your country before acting.
2. The AI faculty
Teaching, tutoring, quiz writing and grading are performed by artificial-intelligence systems under a teaching policy we wrote. They can make mistakes. You agree to use your own judgement, to verify facts before relying on them, and to tell us when something is wrong so we can fix it. There is no live human instructor. AI features depend on third-party model providers and may occasionally be slow or unavailable; we work to restore them promptly.
3. Your account
One account per person. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. Keep your password private. Access is personal and may not be shared, resold or used to train other systems. We may suspend accounts that share access, abuse the AI faculty (for example by automated use or attempts to extract system instructions or answer keys), or attempt to interfere with the service.
4. Purchases, access and fair use
Prices are shown in USD. One-time purchases give access to the named product for the duration of your program (12 months from your start date for the full program; the term's duration plus 30 days for a single term). Monthly plans continue until cancelled. Founding prices, where offered, are honoured for the purchasing account only. The AI faculty is subject to fair-use limits designed to be well above normal study needs.
5. Refunds
See the Refund Policy. By checking out you request immediate delivery of digital content and acknowledge the effect on any statutory cooling-off right, as described there.
6. Your work and our content
You own what you write and build in the program. You grant us a licence to store, process and grade it, and to use anonymised, non-identifying extracts to improve the program. Course materials, prompts, rubrics and platform code are ours or our licensors' and may be used only for your own learning.
7. Results
We make no promise about income, business success, employment, admission to any institution or any particular outcome. Results depend on you.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the program is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud.
9. Changes and termination
We may update the program, prices for new purchases, and these terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. You may close your account at any time; we may close accounts for breach of these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without affecting mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
